Competition Details

The University’s Standard Competition Terms and Conditions (which can be found on our website @ https://www.auckland.ac.nz/en/competition-terms-and-conditions.html and as appended to these Competition Details), together with the Competition Details below, form the Terms and Conditions for this Competition. If there are any inconsistencies between these Competition Details and the University’s Standard Competition Terms, these Competition Details will override.

Competition dates:  
The Competition starts on Tuesday 22 September 2026 at 12:00 pm and ends on Sunday 11 October 2026 at 11:59 pm (New Zealand time).
Entry Instructions:
To enter the Competition, complete and submit the online entry form at www.didyoughostus.co.nz during the Competition Dates and select “Enter to win”.

Entry criteria:
Entry is open to New Zealand residents who submit a valid entry during the Competition Dates. Growing Up in New Zealand will use the details provided to determine which of the following prize pools applies:
Main Prize Pool: you must be verified as a participant of the Growing Up in New Zealand study.
Non-participant Prize Pool: you must not be verified as a participant of the Growing Up in New Zealand study.
If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or caregiver before entering the Competition.
Prize draw or determination date:
Prize(s) will be drawn on Wednesday 14 October 2026 at 12:00 pm (New Zealand time).
Judging criteria:

The prize winners will be determined by two random prize draws:

  • One Main Prize winner will be drawn at random from all valid entries inthe Main Prize Pool.
  • Ten Non-participant Prize winners will be drawn at random from all valid entries in the Non-participant Prize Pool.

Entrants are eligible only for the prize pool that applies to theirverification status. No entrant may win more than one prize.

Prize(s):

Main Prize: One winner will receive:

  • four Chuffed Gifts “Experience Awaits” gift vouchers valued at $233 each (total value $932);
  • four General Pants Co gift vouchers valued at $200 each (total value $800); and
  • one Uber Eats gift voucher valued at $200

Total retail value of the Main Prize: $1,932.

Non-participant Prize Pool: Ten winners will each receive one $100Uber Eats gift voucher.

Total retail value of the Non-participant Prize Pool: $1,000.

Total retail value of allprizes: $2,932.

Appendix

Standard competition terms and conditions

These terms,together with any entry information and/or additional terms and conditionsspecified by the University of Auckland (Terms) apply to eachcompetition (Competition) where the University of Auckland (University)states that its standard competition terms apply. These Terms are a contractbetween each entrant (you) and the University.

  1. Term: The Competition starts and finishes on the dates specified by the University at the time of entry. If your entry is received outside of this period you may be disqualified.
  2. Prize: The prize(s) for the Competition (Prize)are not transferable or redeemable for cash and all components of the prizesmust be taken together. Some or all components of the prizes may be subject toavailability, as well as additional terms and conditions set by third parties.Prize winners are responsible for arranging and paying for all costs associatedwith the prize that are not explicitly stated by the University at the time ofentry. The University may replace the prize with another prize of equivalent orgreater value if the prize becomes unavailable for reasons outside theUniversity's reasonable control. Where the prize is to be delivered to thewinner, the prize must be delivered to a New Zealand address. The Universitymakes no warranties about the prize (including as to its quality or fitness forpurpose).
  3. Who may enter: Toenter the Competition, you must meet any entry criteria specified by theUniversity, and comply with these Terms.
  4. How to enter: If you do not follow the entry instructions specifiedby the University and otherwise comply with these Terms, you may bedisqualified. Incomplete entries may not be accepted. Generally, entries maynot be modified after submission
  5. Numberof entries: Unlessotherwise specified, you may only enter the Competition once.
  6. Winner: Unless otherwise specified, thewinner(s) of the prize will be drawn randomly from one prize pool comprisingall valid entries on the date specified by the University at the time of entry.Where there are multiple prizes, entrants will not win more than one prize.Where the winner is not determined by a random draw, all judging decisions aremade at the University's sole discretion.
  7. Contactingthe winner: Thewinner of the Competition will be announced after determination. The Universitywill take reasonable steps to contact the winner by using the contact detailsprovided at the time of entry. If the University cannot contact a winner withinone week after the winner is announced or if the winner is otherwise unable toaccept the prize, then the winner will forfeit the prize and the University mayselect a new winner.
  8. Entries: All entries received by theUniversity and any materials submitted with the entry (Materials) willbecome the property of the University. By entering the Competition you consentto the University copying, reproducing, altering, communicating to the publicand otherwise using your entry and any Materials all media, whether known nowor developed in the future, in relation to the Competition, or to advertise andpromote the University (including by publishing your entry and or theMaterials, or parts of them, on the University's websites). In addition, byentering the Competition, you agree that the University may use your name,photograph for promotional purposes without compensation.
  9. Privacy: The University may collect anduse personal information about you (including your name, contact details, andany other personal information you provide in connection with your entry) forthe purpose of administering the Competition, verifying the validity ofentries, contacting winners and checking winners' identities, and marketing thegoods and services of the University to you. As certain information is requiredfor us to run the Competition effectively, if you do not provide accurateinformation where we request, you may be disqualified from the Competition. TheUniversity will collect, use and hold your information in accordance with ourlegal obligations, including under the Privacy Act 2020. In order to requestaccess to or correction of your personal information please contact the UniversityPrivacy Officer at privacy@auckland.ac.nz.
  10. Liability: Subject to any applicable law thatcannot be excluded, the University and its employees and agents will not beliable for any loss or damage (whether in contract, tort (includingnegligence), under statute, equity or otherwise in connection with the Competitionor the prize(s)). Without limiting the previous sentence, the University is notresponsible for any late, misdirected or incorrectly completed entries, or anytechnical malfunction, delay or loss of data that occurs in the course of theadministration of the Competition, however caused.
  11. Facebook: Where the Competition is run viaFacebook, the Competition is not associated with Facebook, Facebook has noliability in connection with the Competition, and any information you providein connection with the Competition is provided to the University, not toFacebook.
  12. General: The University's decisionsregarding the Competition are final and no correspondence will be entered into.The University may change these Terms at any time. If the University cannotreasonably run the Competition as planned for any reason, the University maycancel this Competition.
