About the project

This project is part of a wider research programme Public housing and urban regeneration: maximising wellbeing led by the New Zealand Centre for Sustainable Cities. The overarching goal of Public housing and urban regeneration: maximising wellbeing is to identify which projects, ideas and visions – particularly within the public housing sector - deliver improved wellbeing for tenants and reduce inequalities for Māori.

The child wellbeing aspect of the research programme aims to use Growing Up in New Zealand data to examine different housing-related factors that contribute to child wellbeing. In particular, child wellbeing outcomes will be compared for children in public housing with children in other tenure types (private rental, owner occupied), after controlling for other factors.
