This report examined thehousing conditions, residential mobility and severe housing deprivationexperience of the Growing Up in New Zealand cohort between ages 8 and 12. Italso analysed longitudinal patterns of residential mobility from birth to12-years.

The housing conditions,residential mobility and severe housing deprivation experiences were examinedbased on the questionnaire data collected from the mothers of the cohort. Methodsincluded frequency statistics and descriptive cross tabulations withsociodemographic variables (ethnicity, housing tenure, neighbourhooddeprivation and material hardship). The housing quality by geographical region wasalso assessed. Finally, the longitudinal patterns of residential mobility wereexamined using social sequence analyses.
