About the project

This study proposes the use of GUiNZ data to examine children’s longitudinal social and economic circumstances and learning-related outcomes. Broadly, this study will involve an assessment of factors at the family-level and seek to understand trajectories of these factors across early and middle childhood for Aotearoa NZ children. These trajectories will be explored in relation to education and cognitive outcomes in middle childhood.

This study will offer a temporal perspective of development in context, to aid researchers and policymakers in actions towards more equitable learning outcomes for all Aotearoa New Zealand children. Findings will be included within the PhD thesis of the student researcher and published as peer-reviewed journal articles.

Results may also be presented at research conferences.
