This latest report from Growing Up in NewZealand shares insights and findings from when the young people in the studyare at the start of adolescence - a time of rapid social, emotional, andphysical development. The report is presented in a series of nine snapshotswhich topics are relevant to the health and wellbeing of young people.

This snapshot examined thewellbeing impacts of the pandemic on young New Zealanders. In Aotearoa, theCOVID-19 pandemic has been associated with greater depression and anxietycompared to population norms and worry about COVID-19 has been correlated withanxiety, depression, and stress. Findings show that the impact of the pandemichas widened existing inequities for New Zealand young people and theirfamilies. The overall burden of disease has not been equitable, with higherinfection and mortality rates among Māori and Pacific peoples.
